The sun in Thailand

Sunburn

Overexposure to Thailands tropical sun can give you severe sunburn, heatstroke and leave you with skin cancer years down the track.

Sun burn is extremely painful and can have the same result as fire or chemical burns.

The beach and reef are high risk areas because ultraviolet rays reflect off water and sand, but sunburn can occur just as easily when you’re mowing the lawn.

Remember it is just as easy to burn on a winter or cloudy day.

Many tourists dont remember this, as you can easily find out if you have a look around on any famous beach in thailand. Burned people are everywhere.

Just a few people protect themselves like this couple on Phukets famous Karon Beach:

At least u should protect your children.

For example Queensland/Australia has the highest skin cancer rate in the world, partly due to the proximity to the equator and a climate that entices people outside. The risk of developing skin cancer is related to the duration and intensity of sun exposure over time.

Did you know?

If u are from Europe, the United States or Canada ur shadow at noon is pointing  to the north, because the sun is shining from the south always, all year long, 365 days a year.

In Thailand respectively SouthEastAsia the direction of ur shadow changes, and if u r in Phuket, Samui, Koh Chang or even in Bangkok in June the sun is shining from the North and your shadow is pointing to the south:

This picture was taken on 2010, June, 26. on Phukets famous Karon Beach at noon. In Europe, the United States and Kanada or north of the 20th Latitude the shadow is pointing to just the opposite direction, to the north and not as shown here to the south.

For Australians its just the other way round. They have the shadow normally falling as in the picture above. If they have a vacation to Thailand between September and April the shadow will fall to the north.
